It seems like the integrated lighting is already positioned perfectly for illuminating the build whereas the Hue+ wants a larger window so the visual effects can be really apparent. Especially with heavily demanding games, dropping from 60 fps to 40 fps is really jarring where at 1440p dropping from 144 to 100 fps is barely noticeable (especially with Gsync).Īlso to answer your original question, I think the Hue+ is great but I wonder if the strips will give you the effect you're looking for around a smaller side window. Gameplay just looks so much smoother at higher frame rates and clarity is indistinguishable (for me at least). Having gone through 4K and those choices with my own Haswell-E 980 ti SLI system, I feel that those two types of monitors look so much better than 4K at 28", especially with 4K limited to 60 hz. Did you already buy the monitors? I would recommend a 1440p 144hz IPS Gsync monitor or a 3440x1440 100hz IPS Gsync ultrawide monitor over one (or both) of the 4K monitors.
